Elixir includes translations for 27 languages out of the box. All theme text (buttons, labels, cart messages, error messages, etc.) is translated — you don’t need to do it manually.

Enabling languages

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Settings → Languages.
  2. Click Add language and select the language you want.
  3. Publish the language to make it available on your storefront.
Once published, Elixir’s translations are automatically applied. The language selector in the header lets customers switch between your published languages.
Enable the Language selector in your header settings so customers can see and switch languages.

RTL support

For right-to-left languages (Arabic, Hebrew), enable RTL support in Theme settings → Typography. This mirrors the entire layout — navigation, text alignment, and section ordering flip to right-to-left.

Customizing translations

If you want to change specific translation strings (e.g. change “Add to cart” to “Buy now”):
  1. In Shopify admin, go to Settings → Languages.
  2. Click on the language you want to edit.
  3. Filter by Theme to see all theme-specific strings.
  4. Edit any string and save.
